Founding partner James Hopcraft started his career as a trainee vehicle technician at All Electric Garages, gaining qualifications from the Birmingham Automative Training College.
He moved to West Midlands Police Central Birmingham Service and Repair Workshops, gaining a valuable insight to the fleet sector before joining forces with Nicholas Hall to launch HallCraft in 1995.
Together, they started servicing and repairing vehicles for customers in Cradley Heath, earning a reputation for the quality of their work and customer service.
The business grew and the pair added a body shop to their site, establishing HallCraft as a one-stop shop for customers.
They extended the business further, adding additional lifts and and bigger ramps to allow them to also support businesses.
Whilst running the business, James also successfully achieved his Master's Degree in Management and Leadership at Durham University Business School in 2013.
In 2025, James took sole ownership of the business and immediately set about achieving further growth, adding new staff members to the team and in 2026 acquiring an adjacent unit to double the size of the bodyshop to 5,000sq ft.
James is committed to grow HallCraft and become the region’s leading independent repairer, known for quality, trust, and specialist expertise in both service and accident repair.
