Thirty Years of HallCraft: Continually Learning, Always Improving

For 30 years, HallCraft has led the way as an independent garage in the West Midlands, fuelled by a desire to continually improve and always strive to be better.

September was a case in point of that approach as members of the HallCraft team travelled the length and breadth of the UK to continue their own personal development and training.

HallCraft are leading supporters of fleet managers, businesses, and private motorists and recognises the importance of investing in personnel and equipment.

HallCraft recognises that reputation is earned and then maintained through the work you do and the care you give every customer.

That means continually improving our skills, knowledge, equipment and service.

Professional Development

Whether a customer needs an MOT, routine service, a complex diagnosis or accident repair,  they should feel confident that the people looking after their vehicle are committed to doing the job properly.

September was a busy month for learning at HallCraft, with colleagues taking steps in their professional development.

Their commitment shows how our values translate into action throughout the business.

Entrepreneurs Circle

Dale has begun an 18-month Master Technician course with Technical Topics, strengthening his diagnostic skills as he works towards an assessment to gain an IMI  Master Technician Accreditation.

HallCraft owner James Hopcraft said: “Diagnosing modern vehicles demands technical understanding, a methodical approach and the ability to interpret increasingly complex information

“Dale’s commitment to developing those skills reflects the standards we want to maintain for every car and van entering our workshop.

Enhanced Customer Experience

“Tracey and Gavin, meanwhile, attended a day of training with Entrepreneurs Circle, exploring the importance of being a linchpin at work. Be in no doubt, we understand there is far more to being a successful garage than technical expertise alone.

“Taking responsibility, supporting colleagues and helping things run smoothly all contribute to a better customer experience, and we realise that investing in those qualities matters just as much as investing in workshop equipment.

Local Colleges

HallCraft has always been keen to attract apprentices to join the team and work closely with several local colleges.

James added: “Jesse, our third-year body repair trainee, has returned to Sandwell College on day release, continuing to build the knowledge that supports his development in the bodyshop.

IMI Accredited Service Advisors

“Scott, our second-year service technician, has started back at Dudley College, attending one day a week alongside his work at HallCraft. Adam, having completed three years at Dudley College, is now studying hard for his end-point assessment in the coming months.

“These milestones represent sustained effort, and we are proud to support the next generation as they develop their careers.

“Izzy is continuing her journey towards becoming an IMI-accredited service advisor and joined her fellow students in Nottingham for the next module at The Service Advisor Academy, developing the knowledge and confidence that help customers understand their vehicle’s needs.

Investment In Technology

“Clear communication is an essential part of good service, from explaining recommended work to keeping customers informed.”

Aside from HallCraft’s investment in its own staff, the Cradley Heath business continues to invest in new equipment, working with suppliers to discover new technology and techniques.

Last month, HallCraft revealed it would double its body shop capacity with the acquisition of an adjoining unit, which extends the body shop floor space from 1,700 sq ft to 5,000 sq ft.

One-Stop Motoring Needs

“The additional space provides us with a fairly unique opportunity to provide our customers with a one-stop shop for all their motoring needs with MOT, servicing, accident and smart repairs, paint booths, wheel alignment and ADAS solutions –  the complete service all under one roof,” James added.

“That additional space means we can consider new equipment, specialist tools, and we welcomed GYS for a full morning of demonstrations covering its latest welding and dent-pulling equipment.

“Opportunities like this allow the team to explore new tools and techniques, ask questions and consider how developments in repair equipment can support their work.

Learning And Sharing Knowledge

“Together, these activities demonstrate what continuous improvement means at HallCraft. It is a commitment shared across our technicians, body repair specialists, service advisors and wider team.”

For fleet managers and businesses, dependable vehicle support helps keep operations moving.

For private motorists, it provides reassurance that their car is in capable hands.

Every customer benefits from a team that keeps learning, shares its knowledge and takes pride in its work.

Thirty years provides HallCraft with a strong foundation backed by an ambition to keep building on it, combining the personal service of an independent garage with the skills and capabilities customers need as vehicles continue to evolve.
