HallCraft has been proudly working in partnership with Sandwell College to help students secure work in the motor industry.
For the past eight weeks, Cradley Heath’s leading independent garage has been welcoming students from Sandwell College on a work experience programme.
Sandwell College is the largest provider of 16-19 study programmes in the West Midlands.
Their courses are created to prepare learners for higher education, apprenticeships, and successful careers in the automotive industry.
“We were honoured to work with their college and their brilliant students. who were able to spend a week with us, learning from our team, the best in the business,” owner James Hopcraft explained.
“They spent time working across the departments, gaining valuable insight as to what it is like to be part of a team repairing customers’ cars and vans.
“We were very impressed by their skills and desire to learn; it’s really refreshing, and you could tell they took huge pride in their work.
“We hope they got something out of their time with us. We enjoyed hosting them, and we wish them all the very best of luck with their careers. Who knows? Maybe we might see one or two of them again?
The college has a dedicated automotive body repair section, helping youth onto training programmes, whether that be full time or an apprenticeship.
HallCraft have welcomed learners in for a week at a time to experience what it is like to work and be part of a team repairing customers’ cars and vans.

MET (Mechanical, Electrical & Trim): Work on complex diagnostics and component fitting.

Hybrid & Electric Vehicles: Train in cutting-edge vehicle technologies.

Automotive Apprenticeships: Earn while you learn with real-world experience.
Students at Sandwell College train in industry-standard workshops with real vehicles anbd work on live projects like Police Range Rover, Tuk Tuk, and sports car builds.
They also benefit from purpose-built workshops which are specialised for mechanical repairs, bodywork restoration, paint spraying and electric & hybrid vehicle technology.
