HallCraft Warning Over Air Conditioning Re-Gas Services

HallCraft is warning customers to think twice about using quick-fix re-gas establishments to look at vehicle air conditioning issues.

The HallCraft team has been inundated with customers asking for help with air conditioning – sometimes just DAYS after they have paid other garages for a re-gas.

In an effort to try and help customers, and for a limited time only, HallCraft will offer a HALF PRICE air conditioning assessment, to ensure their customers are protected and offered the right solution to their air conditioning woes.

This protects customers, saves them money, and keeps them cool during the summer months.

This limited-time offer has been prompted by a flood of customers turning to HallCraft during this period of hot weather, suffering with vehicle air conditioning problems – DESPITE the fact that they have paid other garages for re-gassing their AC system.

Unethical and Wrong

Many were told a re-gas would fix their air conditioning woes – only to find their system failed again, sometimes within days.

Now HallCraft is urging customers to seek professional advice and proper assessment of their air conditioning system, and will offer a 50% discount on air conditioning assessment fees for a limited period.

Under UK F-gas regulations, technicians must not knowingly recharge an automotive air-conditioning system that has an abnormal refrigerant leak without first repairing the fault.

“It is unethical, wrong, and damaging to the customer’s pocket and the environment,” explained HallCraft owner James Hopcraft.

“We are seeing way too many people come to us within a week, sometimes even days, of having paid for a re-gas somewhere else asking for help. It is expensive, unnecessary, and can easily be avoided.

ATA and F-Gas Certified

“Air Conditioning is taken for granted, and most people would assume the system simply needs re-gassing, but there is way more to it. Leaks are common, but drive belts, compressors, control units, heat pumps, and valves can all affect system performance.

“For this reason, we strongly recommend having professionals like HallCraft diagnose and repair your vehicle’s AC system.

“Our technicians are ATA and F-Gas certified, all licensed to handle automotive air conditioning refrigerant. They use professional methods, including nitrogen pressure testing and UV dye, to find and confirm even the smallest leaks.

“We understand times are tough and that for many, £90 may be a lot to pay for an air conditioning diagnostic assessment, but it is crucial to understand the problem rather than having a garage just guess your vehicle requires a re-gas.

“So, for a limited time, HallCraft will reduce the air conditioning diagnostic assessment to £45 plus VAT, to ensure our customers get the value they deserve and only get the best possible advice on the repairs their vehicle needs.”

Air Conditioning Systems

Modern vehicle air conditioning systems are highly technical and can fail for a wide range of reasons, including leaking pipes, damaged condensers, faulty compressors, electrical issues, pressure sensor failures, or worn seals.

Air conditioning refrigerants are controlled gases regulated under F-Gas legislation due to their environmental impact. Releasing refrigerant into the atmosphere through a leaking system contributes to greenhouse gas emissions and breaches environmental regulations.

Proper leak detection and recovery procedures are therefore essential before any refrigerant is added to a vehicle.

“It is just wrong that some garages appear willing to take the risk, and it is irresponsible,” James added.

Identify Air Con Leaks

“HallCraft technicians are fully F-Gas trained and qualified to carry out safe and compliant air conditioning diagnostics and repairs. We use specialist diagnostic equipment to pressure test systems, identify leaks, inspect components, and determine the exact cause of air conditioning failures before recommending repairs.

“Customers deserve honest advice and proper diagnosis rather than quick fixes that don’t last. If a system has a leak, simply adding more refrigerant is not the answer. It wastes money, damages the environment, and can ultimately lead to more expensive repairs later.”

HallCraft has been working to protect motorists across the West Midlands for 30-years. They have found that many motorists wrongly believe air conditioning is included in annual servicing when it is a very specific service.

Air Conditioning Diagnostic Assessment

HallCraft hopes drivers will understand their air conditioning system better by taking advantage of the reduced price air conditioning assessment. This will also help to avoid repeated repair bills as we enter the warmer summer months.

HallCraft advises drivers to pay attention to warning signs such as weak airflow, unusual smells, noisy operation, or air that fails to cool properly, as these can all indicate deeper mechanical or electrical issues.

In addition to identifying faults, proper air conditioning functionality can also help improve fuel efficiency and cabin air quality. Faulty systems can place additional strain on a vehicle’s engine while also allowing bacteria and moisture to build up within the ventilation system.
